A native of Shreveport, LA, graduated from Fair Park High School in 1951 and enrolled in LA TECH University a year later. Graduated from Tech in 1956, Cum Laude, Outstanding Business School Graduate, Distinguished Military Graduate, WHO'S WHO, and commissioned as officer in the USAF. Went on active military duty that year as a pilot trainee, earned pilot wings a year later, and served 30 years retiring at the rank of Colonel in 1986, and with ratings as a Command Pilot and Master Parachutist. Became a Bossier City resident in 1968 and, after mandatory military moves, returned to Bossier City permanently in 1980.

Summary of Military Service

  • Assignments included seven years in Air Commando Units; earning a Master Parachutist rating; also a Berlin Corridor qualified pilot.
  • First Vietnam tour at Bien Hoa Air Base where he flew C-47 aircraft.
  • Returned to Vietnam for second tour at Nha Trang Air Base where he flew C-47 and U-10 Aircraft.
  • Command Pilot with 5,450 flying hours, including 381 combat hours and 294 combat support hours.
  • Master Parachutist, completing 66 jumps in the United States, Germany, Spain, France and Libya.
  • Decorations include two Legions of Merit, two Distinguished Flying Crosses, 13 Air Medals, the Bronze Star, and the Meritorious Service Medal.
